Basic Homeowner Maintenance
For homes with ducted air conditioning or forced air furnaces you should wash or replace the air filter in your home on a regular basis. If you are unsure of where these filters are and how to replace them Yuhan Heating and Air Conditioning service technicians can show you how to replace them during a maintenance or repair visit. The parts of your heating and air condition systems that are inside your home should be periodically checked for leaks of water or fuel for a furnace. If you see water or perhaps smell musty or mildew-like odors then a service professional needs to inspect your system. When mowing or trimming grass near the outside parts of your heating and cooling system make sure the grass or debris does not exit the mower in the direction of the unit. If debris gets inside the unit it can damage it or cause a loss of efficiency. An air conditioning or heat pump thermostat temperature should never be adjusted while the system is running. This can short cycle the compressor which can lead to damage and repair cost. The thermostat should be set to the off position. After at least two minutes to allow the system to shutdown the temperature can be adjusted and the system turned on. Some thermostats have batteries that need to be replaced. If you have recently purchased a home and are unsure if the thermostats have batteries a Yuhan Heating and Air Conditioning service technician can determine if they do during a routine maintenance visit. |
